Ken Casey (born December 31, 1969) is the bass guitarist and one of the lead singers of the Boston Celtic punk group Dropkick Murphys. Casey was one of the original members, starting the band in 1996 with guitarist Rick Barton and singer Mike McColgan. He is the only original member of the Dropkick Murphys left in the band, though drummer Matt Kelly joined shortly after formation in 1997. He is known for his melodic vocal parts and solid punk rock bass playing. The Dropkick Murphys song "Boys on the Docks" is dedicated to Ken Casey's grandfather John Kelly, a union worker in the middle of the 20th century. Ken is also the owner of a bar in the Back Bay of Boston near Fenway, McGreevy's Third Base Saloon. It's dedicated to the memory of the founder of the Royal Rooters, "'Nuf Ced" Michael T. McGreevy. It is located at 911 Boylston Street, Boston MA.

Famous quotes containing the words ken and/or casey:
“Is America a land of God where saints abide for ever? Where golden fields spread fair and broad, where flows the crystal river? Certainly not flush with saints, and a good thing, too, for the saints sent buzzing into mans ken now are but poor- mouthed ecclesiastical film stars and cliché-shouting publicity agents.
Their little knowledge bringing them nearer to their ignorance,
Ignorance bringing them nearer to death,
But nearness to death no nearer to God.”
—Sean OCasey (18841964)
“Casey Jones, mounted to the cabin,
Casey Jones, throttle in his hand,
Casey Jones mounted to the cabin,
Took his farewell journey to the Promised Land.”
—Unknown. Casey Jones (l. 4952)
