Kappa Phi Lambda - Service & Philanthropy

Service & Philanthropy

Kappa Phi Lambda is an organization which prides itself on its sense of commitment to cultural diversity and strong bonds of sisterhood. However, the other primary focus is to offer their service to the community. Its national philanthropic cause is the National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum (NAPAWF), the only multi-issue APA women's organization in the country with the mission to build a movement to advance social justice and human rights for APA women and girls. Individual chapters or colonies participate in their own community service events. Furthermore, each respective school has designated at least one local non-profit organization as their philanthropic cause of choice. The sorority maintains its sense of diversity by fundraising for all types of causes of concern.

Famous quotes containing the words service and/or philanthropy:

I can counterfeit the deep tragedian,
Speak, and look back, and pry on every side,
Tremble and start at wagging of a straw,
    Intending deep suspicion. Ghastly looks
Are at my service like enforced smiles,
And both are ready in their offices
At any time to grace my stratagems.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

... the hey-day of a woman’s life is on the shady side of fifty, when the vital forces heretofore expended in other ways are garnered in the brain, when their thoughts and sentiments flow out in broader channels, when philanthropy takes the place of family selfishness, and when from the depths of poverty and suffering the wail of humanity grows as pathetic to their ears as once was the cry of their own children.
    Elizabeth Cady Stanton (1815–1902)
