Jonathan Leong - Theatrical Circus Career

Theatrical Circus Career

In April 2010, it was announced that Leong would star in the original theatrical production, "Voyage De La Vie" along with a cast of international performers. After several rounds of auditions, Leong got the lead role of "The Boy".

The multi-million dollar theatrical circus spectacular was created by Mark Fisher, produced by The Generating Company, and co-conceived and directed by acclaimed Broadway and Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus director Philip Wm. McKinley. "Voyage De La Vie" is currently the resident show at the integrated resort Resorts World Sentosa.

Leong is the only Singaporean performer in "Voyage De La Vie", the Cirque Du Soleil-esque show boasts a blend of circus performances, elaborate sets, costumes and original music. It features an international cast from 16 different countries and has enjoyed success since it's opening night in June 2010. It is currently the longest-running production in the history of Singapore.

Famous quotes containing the words theatrical, circus and/or career:

January, month of empty pockets!... Let us endure this evil month, anxious as a theatrical producer’s forehead.
    Colette [Sidonie Gabrielle Colette] (1873–1954)

Winter and summer till old age began
My circus animals were all on show,
Those stilted boys, that burnished chariot,
Lion and woman and the Lord knows what.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

What exacerbates the strain in the working class is the absence of money to pay for services they need, economic insecurity, poor daycare, and lack of dignity and boredom in each partner’s job. What exacerbates it in upper-middle class is the instability of paid help and the enormous demands of the career system in which both partners become willing believers. But the tug between traditional and egalitarian models of marriage runs from top to bottom of the class ladder.
    Arlie Hochschild (20th century)
