Divisions
There are five sub-divisions in the district: Jodhpur, Shergarh, Phalodi, Piparcity and Osian. Each sub-division is a tehsil headquarters also, while Luni in Jodhpur and Bilara in Piparcity are additional tehsils. In addition to these there are four independent sub-tehsils:Balesar, Bap, Jhanwar and Tinwari.
Jodhpur City is Municipal Corporation, while Bilara, Phalodi and Piparcity are Municipal Councils. There are 1157 villages under 339 Gram Panchayats.
