Personal Life
Gascoine has been married twice. Her first husband was Dundee hotelier Bill Keith, with whom she had two sons. However, the marriage ended in the 1960s, in part because of Keith's gambling addiction. Gascoine was then left to raise her two sons alone and has not seen Keith since they divorced.
In 1982, she met actor Alfred Molina when they were both working in the same theatre production. They later married in Tower Hamlets, London, in 1986.
In 1997, Gascoine was found to have kidney cancer, though the disease was detected early and she made a full recovery. Gascoine has stated she suffered from clinical depression for most of her life, which she believes stems from her unhappy time in a boarding school as a child.

Famous quotes related to personal life:
“A man lives not only his personal life, as an individual, but also, consciously or unconsciously, the life of his epoch and his contemporaries.”
—Thomas Mann (18751955)
“The dialectic between change and continuity is a painful but deeply instructive one, in personal life as in the life of a people. To see the light too often has meant rejecting the treasures found in darkness.”
—Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)
