Early Years

Hunt was born to John Hunt and Martha Jenkins in Bracken County, Kentucky. Some sources site his full name as Charles Jefferson Hunt. Others site it as Jefferson David Hunt .

He married Celia Mounts in 1823. In 1834 they both converted to Mormonism.
