Family

Fforde was born in London on 11 January 1961, the son of John Standish Fforde, the 24th Chief Cashier for the Bank of England (whose signature appeared on sterling banknotes during his time in office). He is the cousin, by her marriage to Desmond Fforde, of the author Katie Fforde, the grandson of Austro-Hungarian (later, Polish) political adviser Joseph Retinger, and a great-grandson of journalist E. D. Morel.

Famous quotes containing the word family:

It is turning three hundred years
    On our cisatlantic shore
    For family after family name.
We’ll make it three hundred more
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

Like plowing, housework makes the ground ready for the germination of family life. The kids will not invite a teacher home if beer cans litter the living room. The family isn’t likely to have breakfast together if somebody didn’t remember to buy eggs, milk, or muffins. Housework maintains an orderly setting in which family life can flourish.
    Letty Cottin Pogrebin (20th century)

Govern a small family as you would cook a small fish, very gently.
