Personal Life
Guy married Terrence Duckett in August 1998, and the couple had one child, a daughter named Imani, born in 1999. On April 8, 2008, People reported that Guy and Duckett were divorcing after ten years of marriage due to irreconcilable differences. Guy and her daughter live in Atlanta.
Guy was a good friend of rapper Tupac Shakur, whom she met through her A Different World co-star Jada Pinkett Smith. Guy collaborated with Shakur's mother, Afeni, to write a biography of her life as a former Black Panther. The book, Afeni Shakur: Evolution of a Revolutionary was published in 2005 by Simon and Schuster and received critical acclaim for its poignancy.
