Christian Faith

Born into a Lutheran family, Jamie Pierre went to church with his family every Sunday as a kid. As he grew up, however, he fell out of religion; he still believed in God, but he did not follow his religion devoutly. At age fourteen, he began to do drugs, a habit that followed him for the next fifteen years. He also drank excessive amounts, to the point he would just blackout and not wake up until the next morning. This continued for many years as he lived his life as a ski bum and through his pro career. During this time, he averaged about one concussion a year from 1990. The culmination of his head injuries and his bad habits began to catch up with him when he started to have full body seizures. Pierre returned to Minnesota for tests in 2003 but after looking for any possible signs, the doctors found nothing. He immediately stopped his drug and alcohol abuse which ended his seizures. This was when he accepted Jesus Christ as his savior. On May 23, 2004, he was baptized and promised to follow God devoutly for the rest of his life. He did, and Pierre brought a bible with him wherever he went and attended church every Sunday. Religion is what gave him a reason to live as he so proudly announced before anything he did, but most importantly before he soared over cliffs.

Famous quotes containing the words christian and/or faith:

[Rutherford B. Hayes] was a patriotic citizen, a lover of the flag and of our free institutions, an industrious and conscientious civil officer, a soldier of dauntless courage, a loyal comrade and friend, a sympathetic and helpful neighbor, and the honored head of a happy Christian home. He has steadily grown in the public esteem, and the impartial historian will not fail to recognize the conscientiousness, the manliness, and the courage that so strongly characterized his whole public career.
    Benjamin Harrison (1833–1901)

What a wretched lot of old shrivelled creatures we shall be by-and-by. Never mind—the uglier we get in the eyes of others, the lovelier we shall be to each other; that has always been my firm faith about friendship.
George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)
