Personal Life
Jacoby Ellsbury was raised as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon), but as reported in the Boston Globe in 2008, he and his three brothers stopped attending services when Jacoby was a teenager. He said, "I try not to get Him too involved in baseball. What I wish for is good health."
Ellsbury was one of the victims of the $8 billion fraud perpetrated by wealth manager Allen Stanford; although Ellsbury had some assets frozen, it did not cause him any significant hardship, like those suffered by Johnny Damon and Xavier Nady. Ellsbury revealed on an episode of Red Sox smalltalk that his favorite cartoon was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and his favorite television shows are Gold Rush and Pawn Stars.

Famous quotes containing the words personal and/or life:
“Personality and mind, like moustaches, belong to a certain age. They are a deformity in a child.... Leave his sensibilities, his emotions, his spirit, and his mind severely alone. There is the devil in mothers, that they must provoke personal ... response from their infants.”
—D.H. (David Herbert)
“That man is to be pitied who cannot enjoy social intercourse without eating and drinking. The lowest orders, it is true, cannot imagine a cheerful assembly without the attractions of the table, and this reflection alone should induce all who aim at intellectual culture to endeavor to avoid placing the choicest phases of social life on such a basis.”
—Mrs. H. O. Ward (18241899)
