Israel Summer Time

Israel Summer Time (Hebrew: שעון קיץ, sh'on kayits; "Summer Clock"), also in English, Israel Daylight Time (IDT) is the practice in Israel by which clocks are advanced by one hour, beginning on the Friday before the last Sunday in March, and ending on the first Sunday after October 1. If the end of IDT falls on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, then IDT will end on the first Monday after October 1.

Famous quotes containing the words israel, summer and/or time:

We Americans are the peculiar, chosen people—the Israel of our time; we bear the ark of the liberties of the world.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)

The woods decay, the woods decay and fall,
The vapours weep their burthen to the ground,
Man comes and tills the field and lies beneath,
And after many a summer dies the swan.
    Alfred Tennyson (1809–1892)

Terror is as much a part of the concept of truth as runniness is of the concept of jam. We wouldn’t like jam if it didn’t, by its very nature, ooze. We wouldn’t like truth if it wasn’t sticky, if, from time to time, it didn’t ooze blood.
    Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)
