Views On Islamic Inheritance

Professor Almaric Rumsey (1825–1899) from King's College, University of London, wrote in one of his many legal books, " comprises beyond question the most refined and elaborate system of rules for the devolution of property that is known to the civilised world."

Recently, the director of the Indonesian Ministry of Islamic Religious Affairs, Nasruddin Umar, who is also a professor at the Indonesian Universitas Islam Negeri and known for a modern interpretation of the Qur'an, has declared that Islam, and thus the Qur'an, supports the division of inheritance between male and female descendants at a ratio of 1:1. Famous quotes containing the words views and/or inheritance:

A foreign minister, I will maintain it, can never be a good man of business if he is not an agreeable man of pleasure too. Half his business is done by the help of his pleasures: his views are carried on, and perhaps best, and most unsuspectedly, at balls, suppers, assemblies, and parties of pleasure; by intrigues with women, and connections insensibly formed with men, at those unguarded hours of amusement.
Philip Dormer Stanhope, 4th Earl Chesterfield (1694–1773)

Every third year you shall bring out the full tithe of your produce for that year, and store it within your towns; the Levites, because they have no allotment or inheritance with you, as well as the resident aliens, the orphans, and the widows in your towns, may come and eat their fill so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work that you undertake.
    Bible: Hebrew, Deuteronomy 14:28,29.
