ISF Women's World Championship

The ISF Women's World Championship is a fastpitch softball tournament for women's national teams held historically every four years, now every two years, by the International Softball Federation (ISF). The number of teams in the tournament began at five in its inaugural event in 1965, went to a high of 28 for the 1994 edition, and now the ISF Code legislates that the maximum number of teams that may participate is 16. There are qualifying tournaments that determine which countries will play at the World Championship.

Famous quotes containing the words women and/or world:

Most women have no characters at all.
    Alexander Pope (1688–1744)

Peace can endure only so long as humanity really insists upon it, and is willing to work for it and sacrifice for it. Twenty- five years ago American fighting men looked to the statesmen of the world to finish the work of peace for which they fought and suffered; we failed them, we failed them then, we cannot fail them again and expect the world to survive again.
    Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882–1945)
