History
Irwell Vale was a new station built by the East Lancashire Railway in connection with the local authority. It was a temporary replacement for the former Ewood Bridge & Edenfield station, just a little further up the line.
The plan was to run vintage buses in connection with the Helmshore Textile Museum which never came to fruition.
