Iraq Prison Abuse Scandals

About six months after the invasion of Iraq rumors of Iraq prison abuse scandals started to emerge.

The best known abuse incidents occurred at the large Abu Ghraib prison. Graphic pictures of some of those abuse incidents were made public. Less well-known abuse incidents have been documented at American prisons throughout Iraq. Coverup operation was extensive, consisting in partly admitting the undeniable, shifting the blame (standard method of diffusion), and minimizing the damage arisen from this unfortunate exposition of daily torture practices of USA soldiery.

Famous quotes containing the words prison, abuse and/or scandals:

He that has his chains knocked off, and the prison doors set open to him, is perfectly at liberty, because he may either go or stay, as he best likes; though his preference be determined to stay, by the darkness of the night, or illness of the weather, or want of other lodging. He ceases not to be free, though the desire of some convenience to be had there absolutely determines his preference, and makes him stay in his prison.
    John Locke (1632–1704)

Decadence is a difficult word to use since it has become little more than a term of abuse applied by critics to anything they do not yet understand or which seems to differ from their moral concepts.
    Ernest Hemingway (1899–1961)

People who don’t like scandals shouldn’t be in finance.
    Christina Stead (1902–1983)
