Target Cells

While neutrophil granulocytes are the primary target cells of IL-8, there is a relative wide range of cells (endothelial cells, macrophages, mast cells, and keratinocytes) responding to this chemokine, too. Famous quotes containing the words target and/or cells:

All of women’s aspirations—whether for education, work, or any form of self-determination—ultimately rest on their ability to decide whether and when to bear children. For this reason, reproductive freedom has always been the most popular item in each of the successive feminist agendas—and the most heavily assaulted target of each backlash.
    Susan Faludi (20th century)

The twelve Cells for Incorrigibles ... are also carved out of the solid rock hill. On the walls of one of the cells human “liberty” is clearly inscribed, with the “liberty” in significant quotation marks.
—Administration in the State of Ariz, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
