WBC Silver
The WBC has also created a "Silver" world title in the early 21st century. Justin Savi was the first to win it on April 16, 2010, fighting against Cyril Thomas in France. The Silver title was created as a replacement to the interim title. But unlike its predecessor, a boxer holding the Silver title cannot inherit the full title vacated by the champion.
On 13 August 2011 in Las Vegas, Abner Mares defeated Joseph Agbeko by a majority decision for the WBC Silver championships.
Alberto Garza is current WBC Silver Featherweight Champion; Vanes Martirosyan is currently the Silver Light Middleweight Champion.
James DeGale is the current WBC Silver Super Middleweight Champion. Amir Khan is the current WBC Silver Light Welterweight Champion.
