History
Founded in 1994 by Uriel Reichman, the Interdisciplinary Center is Israel's first private college. The IDC provides an interdisciplinary education, which combines academic study with practical training. The Interdisciplinary Center aims to create an environment where personal achievement goes hand-in-hand with social responsibility, as well as an international atmosphere. This is achieved by having, in all of the programs taught mainly in Hebrew, mandatory courses in English. In 2009, Alpha Epsilon Pi established its Aleph chapter as the first fraternity in Israel (As of 2012 Alpha Epsilon Pi has also established representation in Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv University). IDC offers exchange programs with Syracuse University, University of Pennsylvania and Singapore Management University.

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“As History stands, it is a sort of Chinese Play, without end and without lesson.”
—Henry Brooks Adams (18381918)
“The only history is a mere question of ones struggle inside oneself. But that is the joy of it. One need neither discover Americas nor conquer nations, and yet one has as great a work as Columbus or Alexander, to do.”
—D.H. (David Herbert)
“The custard is setting; meanwhile
I not only have my own history to worry about
But am forced to fret over insufficient details related to large
Unfinished concepts that can never bring themselves to the point
Of being, with or without my help, if any were forthcoming.”
—John Ashbery (b. 1927)
