Inspired by Bach, a part of Sony Classical celebrates Bach series, presents contemporary cellist Yo-Yo Ma performing the six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello by Johann Sebastian Bach in collaboration with artists from different disciplines, in a set of six films, respectively.
Volume 2. Falling Down Stairs, directed by Barbara Willis Sweete, shows the cooperation between Ma and American contemporary dance choreographer Mark Morris and his Dance Group. Morris had never thought to choreograph a dance to a Bach suite (here the 3rd) and his goal was to inspire Ma as a musician with his choreography so the latter could profit musically from the cooperation. Sarabande is a drama movie by Atom Egoyan featuring Yo-Yo Ma, Egoyan's wife Arsinée Khanjian and Fame star Lori Singer.

Famous quotes containing the words inspired by, inspired and/or bach:
“The fondness or indifference that the philosophers expressed for life was merely a preference inspired by their self-love, and will no more bear reasoning upon than the relish of the palate or the choice of colors.”
—François, Duc De La Rochefoucauld (16131680)
“Poetry, whose material is language, is perhaps the most human and least worldly of the arts, the one in which the end product remains closest to the thought that inspired it.... Of all things of thought, poetry is the closest to thought, and a poem is less a thing than any other work of art ...”
—Hannah Arendt (19061975)
“The authors conviction on this day of New Year is that music begins to atrophy when it departs too far from the dance; that poetry begins to atrophy when it gets too far from music; but this must not be taken as implying that all good music is dance music or all poetry lyric. Bach and Mozart are never too far from physical movement.”
—Ezra Pound (18851972)
