Benefits For Mothers
Breastfeeding is a cost effective way of feeding an infant, providing nourishment for a child at a small cost to the mother. Frequent and exclusive breastfeeding usually delays the return of fertility through lactational amenorrhea, though breastfeeding is an imperfect means of birth control. During breastfeeding beneficial hormones are released into the mother's body and the maternal bond can be strengthened. Breastfeeding is possible throughout pregnancy, but generally milk production will be reduced at some point.

Famous quotes containing the words benefits and/or mothers:
“I do seriously believe that if we can measure among the States the benefits resulting from the preservation of the Union, the rebellious States have the larger share. It destroyed an institution that was their destruction. It opened the way for a commercial life that, if they will only embrace it and face the light, means to them a development that shall rival the best attainments of the greatest of our States.”
—Benjamin Harrison (18331901)
“Contrary to all we hear about women and their empty-nest problem, it may be fathers more often than mothers who are pained by the childrens imminent or actual departurefathers who want to hold back the clock, to keep the children in the home for just a little longer. Repeatedly women compare their own relief to their husbands distress”
—Lillian Breslow Rubin (20th century)
