Seating Capacities of Municipal Indoor Arenas

This is a compiled list of seating capacities for sports and entertainment arenas in the United States. This list is composed mostly of municipal arenas that house professional sports teams (basketball, ice hockey and arena football) and serve as indoor venues for concerts and expositions. Arenas that serve as off-campus college sports facilities are also included in this list.

Note:

• On-campus college sports venues/arenas, with the exception of 22 arenas (listed below) that serve as primary venues for metropolitan areas (over 400,000 in population), and high school gymnasiums are excluded from this list.
• Domed stadiums (i.e. the Superdome in New Orleans and the Georgia Dome in Atlanta), except for the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York, are excluded from this list. The Carrier Dome is the primary venue for basketball at Syracuse University and the city of Syracuse.
• Arenas with a Maximum Seating Capacity of 5,000 seats, or more, are only included within this list.
• Rows shaded in yellow indicates arena is permanent home to an NBA (National Basketball Association) and/or NHL (National Hockey League) franchise.
• Rows shaded in blue indicates an on-campus arena that serves as the primary indoor venue for a large metropolitan area of 400,000 people or more.
• Rows shaded in pink indicates an arena is under construction.
