Independent Schools Council - Operation

Operation

In addition to their political activity, the ISC issues regular guidance and information to member schools on a wide variety of political, legal educational, and practical issues. It also takes responsibility for the induction and recruitment of teaching staff.

ISC’s operations are supervised by a Board of Directors on which all eight associations are represented.

Inspection of member schools is undertaken, under a formal agreement with the DfE, by the ISI. Fully independent, the management of ISI is overseen by a Board on which the constituent associations are all represented, along with three independent directors, the Chairman and the Chief Inspector. ISI inspections are reported publicly and are monitored by Ofsted.

Famous quotes containing the word operation:

Waiting for the race to become official, he began to feel as if he had as much effect on the final outcome of the operation as a single piece of a jumbo jigsaw puzzle has to its predetermined final design. Only the addition of the missing fragments of the puzzle would reveal if the picture was as he guessed it would be.
    Stanley Kubrick (b. 1928)

An absolute can only be given in an intuition, while all the rest has to do with analysis. We call intuition here the sympathy by which one is transported into the interior of an object in order to coincide with what there is unique and consequently inexpressible in it. Analysis, on the contrary, is the operation which reduces the object to elements already known.
    Henri Bergson (1859–1941)

Human knowledge and human power meet in one; for where the cause is not known the effect cannot be produced. Nature to be commanded must be obeyed; and that which in contemplation is as the cause is in operation as the rule.
    Francis Bacon (1560–1626)
