Famous quotes containing the words water, park and/or america:

    The night was thick and hazy
    When the “Piccadilly Daisy”
    Carried down the crew and captain in the sea;
    And I think the water downed ‘em;
    For they never, never found ‘em,
    And I know they didn’t come ashore with me.
    Charles Edward Carryl (1841–1920)

    Is a park any better than a coal mine? What’s a mountain got that a slag pile hasn’t? What would you rather have in your garden—an almond tree or an oil well?
    Jean Giraudoux (1882–1944)

    For America is a land of Commies and Prohibitionists but Anne does not see it. Anne is locked in. The Trotskyites don’t see her. The Republicans have never tweaked her chin for she is not there.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)
