Composition
"I'll Stick Around" is an up-tempo rock song in the key of G major. The song kicks off with a powerful snare and kick drum-roll before the whole band joins in with the intro. The intro is a fast, power chord-based riff, quickly switching from G5-Eb5-Bb5-C5-F5 and repeating until the verse. The verses feature open chords in the key of G major, broken up by repeating the intro riff again or entering the three chord pre-chorus.
The chorus uses the intro riff, over which Grohl shouts the main refrain. The outro adds a new Eb-F7-G-D chord progression that repeats until the main riff returns to end the stop the song dead on the final G.

Famous quotes containing the word composition:
“Since body and soul are radically different from one another and belong to different worlds, the destruction of the body cannot mean the destruction of the soul, any more than a musical composition can be destroyed when the instrument is destroyed.”
—Oscar Cullman. Immortality of the Soul or Resurrection of the Dead? The Witness of the New Testament, ch. 1, Epworth Press (1958)
“Boswell, when he speaks of his Life of Johnson, calls it my magnum opus, but it may more properly be called his opera, for it is truly a composition founded on a true story, in which there is a hero with a number of subordinate characters, and an alternate succession of recitative and airs of various tone and effect, all however in delightful animation.”
—James Boswell (17401795)
“When I think of God, when I think of him as existent, and when I believe him to be existent, my idea of him neither increases nor diminishes. But as it is certain there is a great difference betwixt the simple conception of the existence of an object, and the belief of it, and as this difference lies not in the parts or composition of the idea which we conceive; it follows, that it must lie in the manner in which we conceive it.”
—David Hume (17111776)
