Famous quotes containing the words canoe and/or world:
“There was something refreshingly and wildly musical to my ears in the very name of the white mans canoe, reminding me of Charlevoix and Canadian Voyageurs. The batteau is a sort of mongrel between the canoe and the boat, a fur-traders boat.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“At most, the greatest persons are but great wens, and excrescences; men of wit and delightfull conversation, but as moales for ornament, except they be so incorporated into the body of the world that they contribute something to the sustentation of the whole.”
—John Donne (c. 15721631)
