I Vampiri - Release

Release

I vampiri was released in Italy on 5 April 1957. It was released in the United States in a heavily altered version in America that was retitled The Devil's Commandment.

The film was not a box office success in either Italy or France. Freda felt that film did not succeed in Italy due to Italian filmgoers reluctance to an Italian interpretation of the horror genre. For Freda's next film, Caltiki – The Immortal Monster, he used an English pseudonym to give the impression that the film was not Italian.

I vampiri was released uncut for the first time on DVD in the United States in 2001 by Image Entertainment.

Famous quotes containing the word release:

If I were to be taken hostage, I would not plead for release nor would I want my government to be blackmailed. I think certain government officials, industrialists and celebrated persons should make it clear they are prepared to be sacrificed if taken hostage. If that were done, what gain would there be for terrorists in taking hostages?
    Margaret Mead (1901–1978)

An inquiry about the attitude towards the release of so-called political prisoners. I should be very sorry to see the United States holding anyone in confinement on account of any opinion that that person might hold. It is a fundamental tenet of our institutions that people have a right to believe what they want to believe and hold such opinions as they want to hold without having to answer to anyone for their private opinion.
    Calvin Coolidge (1872–1933)

The near touch of death may be a release into life; if only it will break the egoistic will, and release that other flow.
