It is commonly assumed that the author Charlotte Brontë suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum. She died in 1855 while four months' pregnant, having been afflicted by incessant nausea and vomiting since the start of her pregnancy, and was unable to stomach food or even water.
In December 2012, it was reported that Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, had been hospitalized with the condition.
