Honda XR Series - XR 200R

XR 200R

The XR200 was produced from 1979 until 2002. A development of the XL185 trail bike, the XR200 had an ohc 2-valve air-cooled engine. Although its power output was modest, the XR200 was much smaller and lighter than the the XR250, suiting girls and clubman riders. Drum brakes were fitted ront and rear. There was neither battery nor electric start, so the head and tail light shone only when the engine was running.

In 1984 the cylinder-head was revised to a RFVC four-valve, with twin carburettors. The heads were reverted back to the previous model two-valve head after 1985. Most XR200s had a five-speed gearbox although a six-speed gearbox was fitted on some years. Early models of the XR200 had twin rear shocks, but 1981 saw the introduction the far superior Pro-Link rear suspension setup.
