Athletics

Hickory Ridge's athletic teams are known as the "Ragin' Bulls". The school is a member of the South Piedmont 3A Athletic Conference.

In 2010 Hickory Ridge won its first state championship. Zack Lambert won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 52.13 seconds at the Varsity Swimming State Championship in Cary, NC

The Hickory Ridge Marching Band, or the "Blue Regiment", won grand champion in their first competition, earning the school's first trophies. They were invited to join the largest New Year's Day parade in London, England on January 1, 2009.

The Hickory Ridge Varsity Men's soccer team made it to the first round of the state championships in 2007, as well as 2008. They lost in the first round of the play-offs both years.

The Hickory Ridge Varsity football team went 1-10 in its first season, with its sole win against Piedmont HS. In its second season, they went 5-6, with wins coming against Mt. Pleasant HS, Jay M Robinson HS, Central Cabarrus HS, Concord HS and Piedmont HS. They narrowly missed the state playoffs in 2008.

Hickory Ridge Baseball won its first game in school history on March 5, 2008 against Sun Valley High school.

Hickory Ridge Boy's Tennis team placed second in the South Piedmont Conference in 2008 with a record of 12-2.

The Hickory Ridge Men's Swim team won the South Piedmont 3A Conference Championship for the 2008-2009 season by defeating defending champion Marvin Ridge (Who is not part of the South Piedmont 3A Conference anymore). For the 2009-2010 season they placed second to Jay M. Robinson

Hickory Ridge Women's Cross Country team won the South Piedmont Conference for the 2009 season, with the men coming in third after only coming in second two meets, to Jay M. Robinson HS, and Cox Mill HS.
