Hibernians F.C. - Current Season

Current Season

The 2011/2012 season started off with a number of changes around the squad, with British players Paul McManus, Richie Hart, Brian Fairbairn, Matthew Clarke and Ghanaian midfielder Patrick Osei not retained. Instead in came 4 Brazilians, in the form of Diego Douglas Balbinott (Defender), Rodolfo Soares (Midfielder), Edson Luis Dos Santos (Striker) and Marcelo Mariano Dias (Striker). Clayton Failla also joined Hibernians after his 2-year stint with Sliema Wanderers.

The season started with an entertaining 3-3 draw with Sliema, with Failla scoring a free-kick and Tarabai (A.K.A. Edson Luis Dos Santos) scoring a brace, thanks to a header and a shot from the edge of the box. The second game resulted in victory against Marsaxlokk, with goals coming from Tarabai and promising youngster Triston Caruana. The third game saw a stunning result, a 3-0 victory over a supposedly tough Birkirkara FC outfit. Goals came from Rodolfo Soares, Tarabai and Failla.

Hibs fine form continues thanks to a victory over Balzan Youths. Although we fell behind, a great strike from Tarabai saw the result 1-1 at half time, and then goal from Failla saw Hibernians take the lead. The win was sealed after Andrew Cohen scored a free kick from the edge of the box. Next up came a historic win over big rivals Valletta FC. In order to prevent Valletta from overtaking our record of 37 games unbeaten, we had to win and that's what happened. An early header from Tarabai set things rolling and after plenty of chances (and red cards) Tarabai scored again in injury time to seal a shock 2-0 win for Hibs.

Hibernians maintained their form throughout the next 3 games, with a 2-0 win over Derby rivals Tarxien (due to goals from Failla and Tarabai), a 2-0 win over newly-promoted Mosta and a powerful performance in a 4-1 win over another newly-promoted team in the shape of Mqabba, with Tarabai and Failla getting on the scoresheet again.

Famous quotes containing the words current and/or season:

For the purpose of knowledge, one must know how to use that inner current that draws us to a thing, and then the one that, after a time, draws us away from it.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

To me a book is a message from the gods to mankind; or, if not, should never be published at all.... A message from the gods should be delivered at once. It is damnably blasphemous to talk about the autumn season and so on. How dare the author or publisher demand a price for doing his duty, the highest and most honourable to which a man can be called?
    Aleister Crowley (1875–1947)
