Henry Earl - 1000th Arrest Error

1000th Arrest Error

In 2008, Earl was mistakenly reported having been arrested for the 1000th time since 1992. The judge, for this case, sentenced him to one thousand days in jail, saying the sentence was "only fair". However, The Smoking Gun clarified that Earl has actually been arrested 1333 times since his first arrest in 1970 for carrying a concealed weapon. Earl's actual 1000th arrest occurred in 2002.

Famous quotes containing the words arrest and/or error:

The aim of every artist is to arrest motion, which is life, by artificial means and hold it fixed so that a hundred years later, when a stranger looks at it, it moves again since it is life. Since man is mortal, the only immortality possible for him is to leave something behind him that is immortal since it will always move. This is the artist’s way of scribbling “Kilroy was here” on the wall of the final and irrevocable oblivion through which he must someday pass.
    William Faulkner (1897–1962)

The peculiar evil of silencing the expression of an opinion is, that it is robbing the human race; posterity as well as the existing generation; those who dissent from the opinion, still more than those who hold it. If the opinion is right, they are deprived of the opportunity of exchanging error for truth: if wrong, they lose, what is almost as great a benefit, the clearer perception and livelier impression of truth, produced by its collision with error.
    John Stuart Mill (1806–1873)
