Hayes FM - History

History

Hayes FM was launched out of an initiative between Sutish Sharma, who at that time was working for the BBC, and local MP John McDonnell. The initiative's aim was to contribute towards engaging the three West London boroughs' different communities.

In 2003, Hayes FM undertook a Restricted Service Licence RSL for one month. In 2004, the station developed accredited training courses, and in November of that year submitted an application to Ofcom for a local radio licence. Hayes FM was awarded a radio operators licence in 2006; it started broadcasting on 1 September 2007.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

If you look at history you’ll find that no state has been so plagued by its rulers as when power has fallen into the hands of some dabbler in philosophy or literary addict.
    Desiderius Erasmus (c. 1466–1536)

As History stands, it is a sort of Chinese Play, without end and without lesson.
    Henry Brooks Adams (1838–1918)

I am ashamed to see what a shallow village tale our so-called History is. How many times must we say Rome, and Paris, and Constantinople! What does Rome know of rat and lizard? What are Olympiads and Consulates to these neighboring systems of being? Nay, what food or experience or succor have they for the Esquimaux seal-hunter, or the Kanaka in his canoe, for the fisherman, the stevedore, the porter?
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
