There is the tradition about the name of Haveli Lakha; the town was founded by Lakha who had his Mansion (Urdu,Punjabi:حویلی) here. The passengers used to stay there. As this mansion was near then Delhi-Multan Road, so it got the name “the Haveli of Lakha” which gradually became “Haveli Lakha”. Abdus Salam, Pakistan's only Nobel Prize winner was born in Santokdas village, haveli lakha,19 january ,1926according to his elder sister and his obituary, although he grew up in Jhang. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for his achievements in the field of Theoretical Physics in 1979.
