Famous quotes containing the words hard, rock and/or calling:
“Marry, I cannot show it in rhyme, I have tried; I can find no rhyme to lady but babyMan innocent rhyme; for scorn, hornMa hard rhyme; for school, foolMa babbling rhyme; very ominous endings. No, I was not born under a rhyming planet, nor I cannot woo in festival terms.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
“The new sound-sphere is global. It ripples at great speed across languages, ideologies, frontiers and races.... The economics of this musical esperanto is staggering. The politics of Eden come loud.”
—George Steiner (b. 1929)
“We live in oppressive times. We have, as a nation, become our own thought police; but instead of calling the process by which we limit our expression of dissent and wonder censorship, we call it concern for commercial viability.”
—David Mamet (b. 1947)
