Handel House Museum - 23 Brook Street

23 Brook Street

The museum also incorporates the upper floors of its neighbour, 23 Brook Street, which, in striking musical contrast, was the home of rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix in 1968–9. These rooms are used for temporary exhibitions and events. Both houses have Blue Plaques for their respective occupants.

Famous quotes containing the words brook and/or street:

When the enterprising burglar isn’t burgling,
When the cut-throat isn’t occupied in crime,
He loves to hear the little brook a-gurgling,
And listen to the merry village chime.
    Sir William Schwenck Gilbert (1836–1911)

I mount the steps and ring the bell, turning
Wearily, as one would turn to nod good-bye to Rochefoucauld,
If the street were time and he at the end of the street,
And I say, “Cousin Harriet, here is the Boston Evening Transcript.”
    —T.S. (Thomas Stearns)
