Theories of Left-handedness Vs. Right-handedness
The prevalence of right-handedness is universal across human cultures, although the percentage of right-handedness is smaller in primitive cultures.
Chimpanzees have a similar pattern with right-handedness being more common.
Some studies show preferences for one hand or one body side occurring as early as in the womb and in newborns and infants. These preferences are associated with later handedness. Hand orientation is developed in fetuses, most commonly determined by observing which hand is predominantly held close to the mouth.

Famous quotes containing the words theories of and/or theories:
“Theories of child development and guidelines for parents are not cast in stone. They are constantly changing and adapting to new information and new pressures. There is no right way, just as there are no magic incantations that will always painlessly resolve a childs problems.”
—Lawrence Kutner (20th century)
“Our books of science, as they improve in accuracy, are in danger of losing the freshness and vigor and readiness to appreciate the real laws of Nature, which is a marked merit in the ofttimes false theories of the ancients.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
