Service Time and Intervals
Trains run daily from about 04:30 to 01:00. There is an all night service within the Hamburg section of the system during the nights before Saturdays, Sundays, and the public holidays in Germany.
The base frequency for lines S1, S21, S3 and S31 during the day is 10 minutes. Before 06:00, after 23:00 and during weekend night service, the frequency is 20 minutes. Multiple lines running on the same tracks, mainly through the city centre but also along the routes served by the S2/S21 and the S3/S31, cause shorter intervals. Peak-time lines S2 und S11 further decrease intervals in the morning and afternoon.

Famous quotes containing the words service, time and/or intervals:
“The man of large and conspicuous public service in civil life must be content without the Presidency. Still more, the availability of a popular man in a doubtful State will secure him the prize in a close contest against the first statesman of the country whose State is safe.”
—Rutherford Birchard Hayes (18221893)
“O heavens! how short a time does it take to put an eternal end to a womans liberty!”
—Frances Burney (17521840)
“Unless the people can choose their leaders and rulers, and can revoke their choice at intervals long enough to test their measures by results, the government will be a tyranny exercised in the interests of whatever classes or castes or mobs or cliques have this choice.”
—George Bernard Shaw (18561950)
