Halifax Town A.F.C.
Halifax Town Association Football Club were an English football team who until 2007–08 played in the Conference National, although prior to that they participated in the Football League for over eighty years. The club went into administration during the 2007–08 season, and after finishing 20th in the Conference National, were demoted by three divisions to the Northern Premier League Division One North when the club failed to get a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) passed. The club was reformed as F.C. Halifax Town in July 2008.
The club played at The Shay (hence the reason for their nickname "The Shaymen") in Halifax, West Yorkshire, which is now the home of F.C. Halifax Town.

Famous quotes containing the word town:
“The town is divided into various groups, which form so many little states, each with its own laws and customs, its jargon and its jokes. While the association holds and the fashion lasts, they admit nothing well said or well done except by one of themselves, and they are incapable of appeciating anything from another source, to the point of despising those who are not initiated into their mysteries.”
—Jean De La Bruyère (16451696)
