  • G. Batrachiensis is actually representative of 4 different species, differing only in their geographic distribution: G. batrachiensis in North America, G. chabaudi in South America, G. tba in Europe, and G. japonica in Japan.
  • Male species are smaller than their female counterparts. They also develop and mature more rapidly.
  • Autoinfection is found in two Oxyurida genera besides Gyrinicola. Tachyganetria vivipara in North Africa and two species of Alaeuris also utilize autoinfection.
