The role of the Gull Terr thankfully is now diminishing as a Fighting dog and that is good for this breed. But sadly they are still used for fighting in a lot of areas of Punjab, Originally this dog was bred as a replacement to the Bully Kuttas as Guarding dogs as Bully Kuttas were huge compared to Gull Terrs and have problems in maintaining such huge breed. So the Gull Terrs were bred as guarding dogs as Bully Kuttas were mostly employed in dog fighting because of their sheer popularity as physically powerful dogs. Also some people bred the Gull Terrs for fighting but this dog proved to be as more like a guardian dog than a fighting dog and people kept this dog as guardian dogs afterwards. The original Gull Terrs is a rare breed now as some people interbred the pure Gull Terr with local breeds like Gull Dongs and Bully Kuttas. The pure bull terrier nowadays are getting very rare, a few families have had them from almost a hundred years. Some people advertise this dog as a fighting dog but all of the traits of this dog proved to be that it can prove a great companion dog rather than involved in heinous dog fighting which is not only inhumane but now banned in Pakistan. Thankfully with proper awareness the role of Gull Terrs as fighting dogs is diminishing and now people are breeding this dog purely for domestic purposes. The Gull Terrs needs a proper training and a good owner otherwise these dogs are known for their bite. Also small kennels should be introduced with care in front of these dogs as apart from pack from where they belong to these dogs sometimes proved to be aggressive for anyone invading their space. If some cat is raised with them then these dogs consider those cats as a part of the pack and actually become protective of them as well.
The Pakistani Gull Terr should not be confused with the Gull Dang/Bullygullterr, this is a separate breed (a cross between a Bully Kutta ND a Gull Terr). Athletic and tenacious, the Gull Terr are kept as pets and property guarding duties. The most prized specimens come from Kohat and Punjab regions in Pakistan but original breed is getting rarer and rarer and steps must be taken to preserve them.

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“I assure you that in our next class we will concern ourselves solely with the history of Egypt, and not with the more lurid and non-curricular subject of living mummies.”
—Griffin Jay, and Reginald LeBorg. Prof. Norman (Frank Reicher)
“The steps toward the emancipation of women are first intellectual, then industrial, lastly legal and political. Great strides in the first two of these stages already have been made of millions of women who do not yet perceive that it is surely carrying them towards the last.”
—Ellen Battelle Dietrick, U.S. suffragist. As quoted in History of Woman Suffrage, vol. 4, ch. 13, by Susan B. Anthony and Ida Husted Harper (1902)
“Books of natural history aim commonly to be hasty schedules, or inventories of Gods property, by some clerk. They do not in the least teach the divine view of nature, but the popular view, or rather the popular method of studying nature, and make haste to conduct the persevering pupil only into that dilemma where the professors always dwell.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
