Gull Terr

The Gull Terr or Pakistani Bull Terrior, is a rare breed of dog, which is found largely in Pakistan and in the Punjab region. The best dogs come from Kohat as the dogs found in Punjab are mixed. Gull Terrs are recently named as Pokhatis, by some locals in villages of Punjab, because of their origin in both the Punjab and in parts of ( Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regions, especially Kohat regions), so as P from Punjab and Kohati from Kohat, so they are called Pokhatis. It was bred from Old time Hinks Bull Terriers which is now extinct and the local Bully Kuttas, but some pure old Hinks bull terriers still do exist in Kohat, where some families have had them since 1898, they have kept them pure . They are typically found today in rural areas of Pakistan and in some parts of Indian Punjab. The dogs found in Punjab have black spots on their skin showing have bloodline of bks. In kohat some pure old bull terrier are still found. Tough originally categorized as a smaller version of Bully Kutta for fighting purposes but this dog found its way into homes because of its loving nature and high training ability. This dog is gradually making its way as a companion and a guarding dog. Since dog fighting is already banned in Pakistan and in India, these dogs are bred purely for domestic purposes. If properly trained they have proved to be real assets and are not harmful for children and are very playful dogs.

These dogs are a rare breed and a purebred Gull Terr is a prized possession. Average muscle, white color, agile body and erected ears (without cropping) are a sign of a pure Gul Terr. Some people are mixing this breed for a greater mass and these breeds are not Gull Terrs and their temperament is different than original Gullterrs. Because of the immense popularity of Gull Terrs many swindlers have jumped into this business of looting the people with fake breeds of Gull Terrs and people should be very wary before going to buy this dog. Original Gull Terrs are only found in pure white color and any other color is considered an impurity in the pure breed. Also their head profile is pretty unique and they should not be confused by the head profile of the Bull Terrier which are oval shaped while this dog has a broad and a unique good head profile. If properly trained then these dogs' training ability is at par with other intelligent breeds like Border Collie and German Shepherds.

She that but little patience knew,
From childhood on, had now so much
A grey gull lost its fear and flew
Down to her cell and there alit,
And there endured her fingers’ touch
And from her fingers ate its bit.
