The Greater Egg Harbor Regional High School District is a regional public high school district serving students in Atlantic County, New Jersey, United States. The district serves students from the constituent municipalities of Egg Harbor City, Galloway Township, Hamilton Township and Mullica Township, together with the districts of the City of Port Republic and Washington Township (in Burlington County) who attend as part of sending/receiving relationships.
In a referendum held on September 25, 2007, by a 3,176 - 1,719 margin, voters approved a plan to construct a third high school in the district, to be located in Egg Harbor City. The new Cedar Creek High School would alleviate overcrowding in the two existing schools and serve students from Egg Harbor City and Mullica Township. Construction was expected to start in Fall 2008 and opened to students in September 2010.
As of the 2009-10 school year, the district's two schools (at the time) had an enrollment of 3,999 students and 287 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.93.
The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "CD", the sixth highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.

Famous quotes containing the words greater, egg, harbor, high, school and/or district:
“So the soul, that drop, that ray
Of the clear fountain of eternal day,
Could it within the human flower be seen,
Remembering still its former height,
Shuns the sweet leaves and blossoms green;
And, recollecting its own light,
Does, in its pure and circling thoughts, express
The greater heaven in an heaven less.”
—Andrew Marvell (16211678)
“Boredom is the dream bird that hatches the egg of experience. A rustling in the leaves drives him away.”
—Walter Benjamin (18921940)
“It is said that the British Empire is very large and respectable, and that the United States are a first-rate power. We do not believe that a tide rises and falls behind every man which can float the British Empire like a chip, if he should ever harbor it in his mind.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Esteem must be founded on preference: to hold everyone in high esteem is to esteem nothing.”
—Molière [Jean Baptiste Poquelin] (16221673)
“Nevertheless, no school can work well for children if parents and teachers do not act in partnership on behalf of the childrens best interests. Parents have every right to understand what is happening to their children at school, and teachers have the responsibility to share that information without prejudicial judgment.... Such communication, which can only be in a childs interest, is not possible without mutual trust between parent and teacher.”
—Dorothy H. Cohen (20th century)
“Most works of art, like most wines, ought to be consumed in the district of their fabrication.”
—Rebecca West (18921983)
