Government of The Philippines

The Government of the Philippines, also known as the Philippine National Government is the national government of the unitary state of the Republic of the Philippines. It is a presidential, representative, and democratic republic where the President of the Philippines is both the head of state and the head of government within a pluriform multi-party system. The government has three interdependent branches: the legislative branch, the executive branch, and the judicial branch. Executive power is exercised by the government under the leadership of the president. Legislative power is vested in both the government and the two-chamber Congress of the Philippines—the Senate is the upper chamber and the House of Representatives is the lower chamber. Judicial power is vested in the courts with the Supreme Court of the Philippines as the highest judicial body.

Famous quotes containing the words government of and/or government:

    A little group of willful men, representing no opinion but their own, have rendered the great government of the United States helpless and contemptible.
    Woodrow Wilson (1856–1924)

    Nor the tame will, nor timid brain,
    Nor heavy knitting of the brow
    Bred that fierce tooth and cleanly limb
    And threw him up to laugh on the bough;
    No government appointed him.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)
