Education
Gakkhar is now getting good education. There are two High Schools for boys and a higher secondary education school for girls. There is also a University college for Bsc. B.ed and M.ed classes. Government High School No. 1 and Government High School No. 2 are in competition. In 2006 Aleem Ullah Cheema, student of Sir Hafiz Gulzar Ahmed, stood first in the whole division (tehsil), scoring 937 marks in the exams of matric.In 2007, student of sir Razzaq Tayyab, Nauman Afzal got 1st position by scoring 758 marks. There is a library called "Saddiqui Memorial Library" in the Town Committee. This library is named after of Ahmed Hassan Siddiqui who was a well reputed educationist of this area.
