There was a rumour that Lys Assia performed the song "Ein kleiner gold'ner Ring" (A Little Golden Ring) in the national final. However, this rumour turned out to be untrue as the singer has only remembered that she took part with a song of that title in a German music festival - it turned out that she actually competed with this song in the German Schlager Festival of 1961.

Famous quotes containing the words national and/or final:
“But for the national welfare, it is urgent to realize that the minorities do think, and think about something other than the race problem.”
—Zora Neale Hurston (18911960)
“The place became full of a watchful intentness now; for when other things sank brooding to sleep the heath appeared slowly to awake and listen. Every night its Titanic form seemed to await something; but it had waited thus, unmoved, during so many centuries, through the crises of so many things, that it could only be imagined to await one last crisisthe final overthrow.”
—Thomas Hardy (18401928)
