Qualitative Statement of The Law
The gravitational field g (also called gravitational acceleration) is a vector field – a vector at each point of space (and time). It is defined so that the gravitational force experienced by a particle is equal to the mass of the particle multiplied by the gravitational field at that point.
Gravitational flux is a surface integral of the gravitational field over a closed surface, analogous to how magnetic flux is a surface integral of the magnetic field.
Gauss's law for gravity states:
- The gravitational flux through any closed surface is proportional to the enclosed mass.

Famous quotes containing the words qualitative, statement and/or law:
“You ask: What is it that philosophers have called qualitative states? I answer, only half in jest: As Louis Armstrong is said to have said when asked what jazz is, If you got to ask, you aint never gonna get to know.”
—Ned Block (b. 1942)
“The honor my country shall never be stained by an apology from me for the statement of truth and the performance of duty; nor can I give any explanation of my official acts except such as is due to integrity and justice and consistent with the principles on which our institutions have been framed.”
—Andrew Jackson (17671845)
“Who to himself is law, no law doth need, Offends no law, and is a king indeed.”
—George Chapman (c. 15591634)
