Gadhinglaj

Gadhinglaj is a city in Kolhapur district situated in the southwest corner of state Maharashtra, India. It is governed by a municipal council.It is a Taluka(Tehsil) Headquarters of Gadhinglaj Taluka a sub division Headuqarters of Gadhinglaj Subdivision of Kolhapur District. As is the case in most of the cities in Maharashtra, the main language spoken is Marathi. Gadhinglaj is situated on the banks of the river Hiranyakeshi. In 2011 its population was 77,997; it is the third largest city in Kolhapur District. It is a booming and fastest growing city in terms of population and economy in Kolhapur district. Majority of people are Hindu and very few Muslims and a small number of other religions.
