G4 Nations
The G4 is a group among Brazil, Germany, India, and Japan for the purpose of supporting each other’s bids for permanent seats on the United Nations Security Council. Unlike the G8, where the common denominator is the economy and long-term political motives, the G4's primary aim is the permanent member seats on the Security Council. However, the G4's bids are often opposed by certain countries, particularly their economic competitors or political rivals.

Famous quotes containing the word nations:
“For nations vague as weed,
For nomads among stones,
Small-statured cross-faced tribes
And cobble-close families
In mill-towns on dark mornings
Life is slow dying.”
—Philip Larkin (19221986)
