Famous quotes containing the words start and/or chocolate:
“It is the manner of gods and prophets to begin: Thou shalt have none other God or Prophet but me. If I were to start as a God or a prophet I think I should take the line: Thou shalt not believe in me. Thou shalt not have me for a God. Thou shalt worship any d_____d thing thou likest except me. This should be my first and great commandment, and my second should be like unto it.”
—Samuel Butler (18351902)
“The man who invented Eskimo Pie made a million dollars, so one is told, but E.E. Cummings, whose verse has been appearing off and on for three years now, and whose experiments should not be more appalling to those interested in poetry than the experiment of surrounding ice-cream with a layer of chocolate was to those interested in soda fountains, has hardly made a dent in the doughy minds of our so-called poetry lovers.”
—John Dos Passos (18961970)
