Frederick Knight (MP) - Marriage & Progeny

Marriage & Progeny

In 1850 Knight married Maria Louisa Couling Gibbs (d.1900), daughter of E. Gibbs. They had one son, who predeceased both his parents aged only 28. They do not appear to have had any daughters as is suggested by the selection of his nephew as Knight's heir. Progeny:

  • Frederic Sebright Winn Knight (1851–1879), JP, DL, who pre-deceased his parents. He was born at Wolverley and was appointed one of two Deputy Lieutenants for Somerset on 16 September 1878.

Famous quotes containing the words marriage and/or progeny:

A marriage is no amusement but a solemn act, and generally a sad one.
    Victoria (1819–1901)

Preschoolers sound much brighter and more knowledgeable than they really are, which is why so many parents and grandparents are so sure their progeny are gifted and super-bright. Because children’s questions sound so mature and sophisticated, we are tempted to answer them at a level of abstraction far beyond the child’s level of comprehension. That is a temptation we should resist.
    David Elkind (20th century)
